Short answer: no. As of October 31, 2026, Zoom does not sell a discounted plan to individual students. Discounts go to schools and universities, and students at many universities get a full Zoom license free through their school account.
How students can get Zoom for free
- Check your university first. Universities that buy Zoom's Education Enterprise bundle give a free Meeting license to every actively enrolled student. Search your university's IT help page for "Zoom", or try signing in at zoom.us with your student email using "Sign in with SSO".
- Use Zoom Basic. The free plan works for classes and group work, but every meeting ends after 40 minutes. Many students simply restart the meeting.
- Ask your teacher to host. Only the host needs a paid license for longer meetings. If your teacher or club leader has Pro, you can join their meetings free for as long as they run.
Note: alumni and recent graduates lose the university license. K-12 students have no free student license unless their school pays for Zoom.
What Zoom charges schools in 2026
| Education plan | Price (billed yearly) | Licenses | Who can buy |
|---|---|---|---|
| School and Campus | $10 per user / month | 20–250 | Accredited K-12 and higher-ed institutions |
| School and Campus Plus | $15 per user / month | 20–250 | Accredited K-12 and higher-ed institutions |
| Enterprise Essentials, Plus, Premier | Contact Zoom | 100+ (K-12), 250+ (college) | Whole institution must be covered |
For comparison, a regular Pro license costs $14.16 a month billed yearly (see Zoom pricing 2026). Education plans are not sold on the website; schools buy through Zoom sales or a reseller.
Cheapest way for a student to pay for Zoom
If you need your own paid account, Pro on yearly billing ($169.92 a year) is cheaper than monthly ($203.88). The best time to buy is around Black Friday: in 2025 Zoom gave new customers 25% off the first year of Pro Annual. We track this on our Zoom Black Friday page and list any live codes on the Zoom coupons page.

FAQ
Is Zoom free for students?
The Basic plan is free for everyone, with a 40-minute meeting limit. A full license is free only if your university provides one.
Does Zoom have a teacher discount?
Not for individual teachers. Schools can buy the School and Campus plan from $10 per user a month.
Can I use a .edu email to get Zoom cheaper?
No. A .edu email alone gives no discount. It only helps if your university has already paid for Zoom and connected it to your student account.
